Just spent a AWESOME week in Puerto Vallarta with my very good friend Denise from Vancouver. I had a great time showing her why we love this charming beach front town and now call it our part time home. Aside from going on adventures and doing activities I have already done, we found something new for both of us. Stuffed frozen bananas at Lix! Now, you’re probably wondering how do you stuff a banana and with what? We were just as perplexed yet also very intrigued and decided we HAD to try one for ourselves.
Lix is located on Basillo Badillo not too far up from Olas Altas. The owner created Lix about a year ago after successfully opening the adjacent chocolate store called Xocodiva. I never did catch the name of the owner but we did chat about the concept and how it came to be. As business savvy entrepreneur expat from Victoria, BC, new ideas are always coming up no matter where she is. The idea of a stuffed frozen chocolate banana popped up one night laying in bed she says, and shortly after came to fruition with the doors opening to the public in 2011.
Although we never got the secret of how the bananas are stuffed, there are four flavors to choose from: nutella, caramel, peanut butter, or berry. The banana’s are then dipped in Xocodiva chocolate and rolled in nuts. What can I say, they are to die for and perfect for those hot PV evening strolls along the malecon. Or, if a frozen stuffed chocolate banana rolled in nuts is not your thing there are ice cream cones, milkshakes and other ice cream treats to try. However, the star of the show in my opinion is the banana.
